Australia day

Australia day

Y’all on the central line platform with your painted southern cross egalitarian faceology … But I’m celebrating a different victory of the antipodes. Not the 99% Fosters: Shiraz, elite financing one percenter baby. High Australian dialect, dig? Rarified blend of Saparavi-Tropical cocktail success and victory over martyrdom, dig? Calibrating the cube, someone whispered.

About the Tailor

I'm an economic immigrant to the city, where I worked as a tailor for several years. I originally tried to sell traditional, religiously compliant clothing, but with cuts and styling that, in retrospect, were correctly deemed suspect and inappropriate by my target demographic. I also tried my hand at teaching fashion at the institute, but wasn't particularly successful at that either. By the end of last year, my business was foreclosed, unprofitable. I ceased trying to make garments for people. Instead, I realised, these the garments, and, yes, their trade and valuation within the capitalism underlying the city -- these garments are what makes me. I am no longer, never was, a tailor -- I am, precisely, a tailoring. I am a tailor's doctrine, being tailored.
