Disappointment in people is the correlate of apprehension of the divine: both are symptoms of sexual pathology. To be disappointed with what humanity shaped up to be can only be based upon a belief there is a divine truth behind the face of the human: that belief is what is dashed by disappointment. Conversely, belief in divinity follows from an optimism that there is something beyond humanity, where beyondness follows only from the existence of a disappointment to be evaded or transcended.
It’s a closed loop, and oscillation of despair and relief, ecstasy and the come down. The thing that regulates it is a capitalism of libido, sexual over-valuation and consequent re-adjustment — pathologically repressed to the extent that its reality can only be symbolically manifested as something above the surface of the body — as a meaning to life, as love or disgust.
When in fact, it’s just powerplay, it’s just genetics, it’s just the body. And the purity of libido/cashflow. There’s no meaning, only life, invested and valued temporarily.
There’s no good reason to be disappointed, just as there’s no good reason to believe in god.
Keep calm, and carry on.
